It has been announced today that James Franco will be directing and writing an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s 1973 necrophilia novel, Child of God. Yes, you heard me...necrophilia novel. I thought it would be a good idea to occasionally post some music featured in soundtracks that stood-out for me. First up in the series is Jon Brion's song 'Here We Go' from Paul Thomas Anderson's Film 'Punch Drunk Love'. The video is made up of unused film that ended up on the cutting room floor, but works surprisingly well with Brion's main theme for the film. Geeky sound engineers are having waaaay to much fun at our expense since 1951 with a sound effect called ' The Wilhelm Scream'. As the cartoon above illustrates, the 'Wilhelm Scream' was first used in the film Distant Drums to sound like a man being bitten by an alligator. In 1953, it was recycled and used for minor character, Private Wilhelm, who is shot by an arrow and dies in the movie The Charge at Feather River...hence the name. ...uhhh A surprising addition to the zombie-lore catalogue gives us this gem of a film, Osombie: Axis of Evil Dead.
