I randomly stumbled across this six minute clip reel, for 1930's talkie film, The Bat Whispers. It was one of the first films to adopt the experimental 70mm widescreen format similar to what you would see in an IMAX cinema today. But ultimately was shelved in 1932, due to the massive budget cuts around the time of the Great Depression. Just like the Ring series of films, there are many VHS tapes of horror circulating the world, in which unspeakable amounts of kitsch can get the better of you. Tim Burton's Batman, on VHS, contained a small gem of an endorsement exclusive for diet coke, placed just before the start of the film.  I'm sure Burton was thrilled with this...it seems to fit sooo well with his Gothic take on the Batman franchise. A new TV spot trailer has been released in japan, showing a bit more of the flying bat vehicle. The soundtrack is dominated by what sounds like a drummer on a rock star coke-binge, drumming so rapidly you'd expect him to have a heart attack once the trailer ends. So here is the score. If you want to be one of the first few people to see the Dark Knight Rises full length trailer, you'll need to get your your ass down to the cinema to see The Avengers on April 26th (UK) or May 4th (US). The funny thing is that Dark Knight Rises is a DC comics franchise, while the Avengers is from Marvel.
